WHITNEY HOUSTON'S LAST SPARKLE

Source: www.imdb.com
sparkle (2012) movie poster

Sparkle is a remake of the 1976 production of the same name. although in this one they have Whitney Houston, Jordin Sparks, Derek Luke, Mike Epps and Omari Harwick. This film was the last project Whitney Houston worked on before she passed away.
This is the only time it is acceptable for Hollywood to remake an old film, films that share musical history and are heartfelt should be shared with the public if possible. Whitney Houston passed away while the movie was in production, it was set to be a big comeback for her. Many fans were excited to hear that they could see Whitney Houston perform one last time. The movie follows Sparkle and her sisters as they try to make it into the music industry.
If you have not seen “DREAMGIRLS” then you will definitely enjoy this movie, the movie was also inspired by the true life history of The Supremes. The iconic voice of Whitney Houston will forever be missed

Yet another remake by Hollywood

source: www.thehypescene.com
Judge Dredd
hollywood has given us yet another remake. this time they remade the 1995 movie "Judge Dredd" with Sylvester Stallone, this 2012 adaptation of the movie will be totally unrelated to the 1995 epic.

It would seem like Hollywood has run out of ideas, lately all they give us are remakes of movies from the 90’s, what is going on with Hollywood?, they threw “Total Recall” at us not so long ago and it tanked hard even, now they bring us yet another remake in the form of “Judge Dredd”, renamed “DREDD” for this 2012 depiction. The movie for me worked with Sylvester Stallone, but Karl Urban might be able to pull the role of “DREDD” off.
The good news here is that, the movie was shot in South Africa or some scenes rather, it was shot on location in Johannesburg and Cape Town, and they incorporated some south African actors into the cast, like Junior Singo from “Intersexions” and ”10000BC”.the producers of this movie are planning on making sequals and a series about the movie, if this movie grosses more than $50 million. they better pray it does.
I for one am excited to see what the new Dredd holds in store for us.. I enjoyed the 1995 epic so I’m hoping they better themselves in this remake. The movie will be in cinemas on the 28th of September 2012 in South Africa..

I RECALL a TOTAL waste of time

total recall poster
The original Total Recall movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger was a better movie as compared to this 2012 remake.
I was shocked to walk into an almost empty cinema after all those awesome and cool trailers I saw, it made no sense to me, a few minutes into the movie I understood why. Total Recall (2012) was a waste of time and energy, it was too long, you will sit in the cinema yawning and wishing for someone to please cut the power…  there was nothing that needed more clarity on from the original movie. The producers could have just saved themselves time and money to make a different and better movie. The only thing that was better about this movie was the special effects; oh they kicked the original Total Recall out of the water on that part, but that’s where it ends. The acting was decent, although the female lead seemed to be struggling with this role.
The story line was similar, understandable, but this time it was not only about an individual it was more about politics, there are only two colonies left on earth after a devastating chemical war.. Yeah, the movie loses you at times, going on about its business forgetting the audience, it would seem the story teller is more interested in telling his story than he is in trying to connect with the viewer. Perhaps something should be said to such movie makers.

they stepped up too many times

source: wearemoviegeeks.com
People who love dancing and like the “Step Up” movies, will be happy to hear that they have come back with a fourth movie in the step up franchise, hopefully this is the last. They are all starting to look the same, boy meets girl, girl meets boy, they share a passion for the dance, they fall in love and win a contest.

The first three movies were exactly like that. In this fourth installment of step up they don’t dance to win a contest though, they dance to save their neighborhood. Out of all four movies, the second step up movie was the best, in my opinion.  Don’t get me wrong the third one had its moments, like the introduction of robot Rock and the tutting guy during the end credits now he was cool, but moments don’t make a movie.

If you watched step up 2 and then step up 3 you’d see that they repeat some of the dance sequences, the water scene, is in both movies. The choreography keeps changing atleast.
I do believe that summit and touchstone should have stopped with the step up movies after the second one, it’s just too much now. We may never get tired of the dancing but the movies and their silly plots, I’m not so sure.
Tutting = changing the angle of your arms to the beat, dancing with your hands and arms practically.

the true meaning of bravery

source: en.wikipedia.org.

Disney and Pixar brought us an animation movie that explores the never ending struggles between a daughter and her mother, and customs set by lords and the right to choose your own path, that’s what the movie BRAVE is all about, this movie is the perfect blend of defiance, adventure, magic, humor and desire. The daughter of king Fergus, an over indulgent father who just wants to keep her daughter  happy,  Merida decides to go against custom, when she decides she does not want to marry any of the suitors chosen for her from the other clans.
We are sent on a wild adventure in old Scotland following Merida as she challenges custom by entering a challenge to win her own hand in marriage and to find the witch that tricked her into turning her mother and three brothers into bears. She finds herself in an odd situation, when she has to save her mother, who is now a bear, from her father king Fergus, who hates bears, for good reason even, as a bear once robbed him of his leg. I like how the movie never loses the humor of the whole situation, a daughter who was only looking to change her mother’s mind has now changed her mother’s entire outlook. In the end it all comes together when Merida saves the day.

a dark knight for batman premier

A man shot 70 people, killing 12 and injuring 58, at the premier of the latest Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, in AURORA, Colorado, USA, on July 20th 2012.
The man responsible for the shooting was later identified as James Eagan Holmes. He allegedly walked up to the moviegoers waiting in line and threw a smoke bomb, and then started shooting.
As many people where happy about going to watch the batman movie, another was planning his own rendition of the movie in real life.  The guy later handed himself over to the police.
What set him off is only something that he knows, or does he hate the Batman movies so much so that he would kill those that like the movies? After this incident security at the movie theatre in AURORA, was tightened up.
Christian Bale went to visit some of the victims of the shooting; he was spotted in a photo taken by one of the people injured in the shooting.  It’s a good thing that Christian Bale did, but he should have went to visit the people injured in the shooting as Batman, just to show the victims that even Batman cares, this would have been more for the fans than anything else.
